Stocks are stakes in businesses, not tickers on a screen. Sygma Investment & Consulting was formed in 2005 to invest in private businesses and to manage capital, through Snowball Wealth, the same way we'd want our own money managed.
Snowball Wealth invests the vast majority of its funds in companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. Put simply, Snowball is in the business of owning shares in other businesses — and because we carry full capital-allocation responsibility with maximum latitude, we operate more like a capital-allocating vehicle than a conventional fund.
Alongside Snowball, Sygma provides management and treasury services to a small number of private operating businesses in which we hold a direct stake — giving shareholders access to both public-market value investing and hands-on private equity, under one roof.

All three partners have a sizable share of their own net worth invested alongside shareholders — the same economic fate, by design.
Leo's intense interest in the strategies of legendary investors Benjamin Graham and Warren Buffett served as the inspiration for a career in investment management. Since opening an investment account in September 2003 at age 22, he has notched up returns averaging over 30% a year, creating a significant wealth base at a young age.
Julian qualified as a Chartered Accountant after completing articles at PKF. He joined Leo in founding Sygma Investment & Consulting in 2005, and launched Snowball Wealth in 2008. Julian, together with Leo and Lyndon, grew Sygma from a small consultancy into a multi-million rand operating group.
Lyndon met Leo whilst growing up in King William's Town, where they attended Dale College together. After graduating with a degree in finance, he built invaluable experience in the accounting industry in Cape Town. In 2005 he joined Leo and Julian in launching Sygma Investment & Consulting, where he currently serves as Chief Financial Officer.
